For colleges

Every department has a part in shaping AI

Judgement about AI belongs inside the subjects a college already teaches, not in a separate course.

Graduates will need judgement within their field

We expect graduates to be judged on knowing a field well enough to decide what AI should do in it, to check what it produces and to recognise when a person must decide instead.

Every department has a part in shaping AI

A course stands apart from the subjects; a thread runs through them.

The change sits inside every department

No subject stands outside it. Commerce, nursing, agriculture and law are each being reshaped in their own way.

The teacher remains the judge. Whether an AI answer is right depends on a subject’s grounding, and that grounding is what the teacher holds.

Judgement must hold across many tools. Graduates will meet tools from the USA, China, India and other countries, and systems their employers build; learning tied to one product dates quickly.

Where it begins

A first day with us brings AI into a department’s own syllabus: students see it attempt familiar work and test it against what the subject teaches. The habit forms where every habit of a discipline forms, in the teaching, across the years of a degree.

Our position

We hold that AI is best learned inside the teaching a college already does, not beside it. That asks for no new department, only that every department takes part.
